A South Dakota man has died and others seriously injured after a crash Saturday, Aug. 17, at the intersection of Highway 70 and Mahogany Street in Brunswick.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at approximately 8:30 a.m. a Toyota Camry was traveling north on Mahogany Street when they failed to yield at the intersection of Hwy. 70; the car struck two Harley Davidson motorcycles and caused a Victory motorcycle to run off of the road. Each Harley was carrying a driver and a passenger.

Jerrad J. Quenomoen, 42, of Java, South Dakota died at the scene. Three medical helicopters arrived at the scene to airlift the injured. Others were taken by ambulance. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, none of the motorcyclists were wearing helmets.

The Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol responded to the scene; State patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash.

Occupant and injury details

On one of the Harley Davidsons was:

  • Jerrad J. Quenomoen, 42, of Java, South Dakota (driver); died at the scene.
  • Charisse M. Janke, 42, of Java, South Dakota (passenger). Life-threatening injuries; taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

On the other Harley Davidson was:

  • Bruce A. Johnson, 48, of Braham (driver). Non-life threatening injuries; taken to North Memorial.
  • Tina M. Johnson, 46, of Braham (passenger). Life-threatening injuries; taken to North Memorial.

On the Victory motorcycle was:

  • Ryan P. Ristow, 21, of Coon Rapids (driver). Non-life threatening injuries; not taken to a health care facility.

In the Toyota was:

  • Par Klaw, 30, of Saint Paul (driver). No injuries.
  • Thu Lu, 34 of Saint Paul (passenger). Non-life threatening injuries; taken to North Memorial.
  • Sui Thoo Po, 28 (passenger). No injuries.
  • Saw Si Si, 26, of Saint Paul (passenger). Non-life threatening injuries; not taken to a health care facility.
  • Matthew Thaw, age 2, of Saint Paul (passenger). No injuries.
