Motorist, K-9 help foil burglary

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office reports that a tip from a motorist led to a foiled burglary in the Hinckley area this past Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, on  June 27 at approximately 5:30 a.m. a Pine County deputy was flagged down by a passing motorist in regards to a possible burglary in progress.

The witness told the deputy a vehicle had been spotted at a known abandoned house on Hinckley Road. The deputy went to the house and found the suspect vehicle and two males in the driveway. One male took off running from the home to a field and wooded area. The deputy detained the second man, as well as a third person in the vehicle.

Pine County K-9 Chewy was called in and was able to track the suspect who ran off to a field to the east of the home.

The investigation showed the house and outbuildings had been entered and items, including copper wire, had been removed.

The suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Pine County jail on charges of burglary.
