Though most MnDOT road projects on I-35 are south of Pine City this year – including ramp resurfacing currently underway in Rush City – crews were in town to complete work on the County Road 7/Hillside Avenue bridge.
Resurfacing in Rush City
MnDOT reported that beginning on Friday, May 8, the northbound ramps to and from I-35 on County Road 1/Rush Lake Road will be temporarily closed while work crews resurface the ramps. Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow more time to reach their destination. The ramps are expected to reopen by Friday, May 29.
This work is part of the larger I-35 Harris to north of Rush City resurfacing project, which is expected to be complete by August.
Paint last part of Pine City bridge project
MnDOT began painting the Hwy 7 bridge over I-35 in Pine City starting Monday, May 4, and projected it to be complete on Wednesday, May 6.
The project included lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-35. This is carryover work from last year’s I-35 Snake River project.
MnDOT officials say this is the end of its years-long series of bridge constructions and road work projects in the Pine City area.
The painting is the last major part of the work,” said MnDOT District 1 Public Affairs Coordinator Margie Nelson.”We may need to reseed grass depending on how it is growing this spring, but otherwise the project will be complete.”
