The southbound Interstate 35 ramps at County Road 7 will close Monday, Aug. 12. They will remain closed for three weeks. The ramps at County Road 11 in Pine City and Highway 70 in Rock Creek will be open and will be used as the detour route.
During the closure new ramps will be constructed at County Road 7.
The County Road 7/Hillside Avenue/Pokegama Lake Road overpass – originally built in 1962 – was demolished on Monday, July 22. Construction of the new overpass will continue into October.
MnDOT Project Engineer Andrew Deming said that new overpass will include a center left-turn lane and a sidewalk with railing and lighting on the north side of the bridge.
Deming had earlier said that the two-year, $24,220,127 project – which also included construction of the new Highway 70 bridge, construction of both I-35 bridges over the Snake River, and repaving of all the roadway in between – is going well so far.
“Right now we’re on schedule, ”Deming said. “As long as we don’t get any weather delays we should stay that way.”
