Fire damage was reported on Nov. 11 in the ATM lobby area of Northview Bank Sandstone. Damages were later estimated in excess of $1,000. The bank was closed on Nov. 11 for the Veteran’s Day holiday, but surveillance video provided to the Pine County Sheriff’s Department by the bank manager on Nov. 12 showed what happened in the ATM area.
According to the complaint:
On Nov. 10 at 9:57 p.m., Deeanna Miner, who was identified by the deputy viewing the surveillance video, entered the ATM lobby area of Northview Bank Sandstone. Miner attempted to move the ATM away from the wall, urinated in a bucket, then attempted to enter the main bank building.
The surveillance video shows Miner at 10:11 p.m. lighting pieces of newspaper on fire and dropping them on the floor. At 10:17 p.m. the video shows Miner leaving the ATM lobby area with the fires still burning. Smoke filled the vestibule and got into the air vents; it eventually burned out.
Damage to the bulletin board, carpet and specialized drainage mat were observed by the responding deputy.
Miner faces two counts of second degree arson and one count of first degree damage to property reducing the value by over $1,000. The two counts of arson are felony offenses and each have a maximum sentence of 10 years, a $20,000 fine or both. The single count of first degree damage to property, another felony offense, has a maximum sentence of five years and/or a $10,000 fine.
