Norman Nordrum passed away at his home in Pine City on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, at the age of 83.
Norman Carl Nordrum was born Sept. 13, 1936, to Joseph and Lena (Arendt) Nordrum in Pine City.
Norman lived east of Pine City, working as a dairy farmer and a milk route driver delivering milk from farms to the Pine City Creamery. Following the dairy business, he worked in agriculture and farm equipment sales. As a very young man Norman worked as a pinsetter at the local bowling alley.
An outdoor enthusiast, Norm spent many years enjoying hunting and fishing, especially the yearly smelt runs. He was known to enjoy a few friendly card games with his family and neighbors.
In his retirement years, Norm enjoyed restoring old and antique tractors. And of course, those Saturday auctions searching out that next tractor to bring back to life.
Norman was always willing to go the extra mile to help family, neighbors, friends and strangers.
Norm is survived by his children Debbie Umphress, Wanda (Mike) Chustz, Jerome (Dawn) Nordrum, Brad (Joyce) Nordrum, Lori (Troy) Doran; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Carol (Lyle) Jaarsma, Gloria Barry, Doris (Roger) Rosenquist, Janie (Tom) Griep; brother Liddell Nordrum; significant other Jaqie Malinak; many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lena Nordrum; sisters Maida, Marlys; brothers Omar, Jim, Daniel and Jay Paul; first wife Janice Nordrum.
Preacher Charlie Stratton officiated funeral services for Norman at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. A gathering of family and friends was held one hour prior to the service.
