Two commissioner seats, SWCD supervisor open for election
File between July 1 and July 15 to run for open positions
Beginning July 1, filing opens for state and Pine County offices to be voted on at the general election on Nov. 4. Pine County’s open spots include two commissioner seats and four Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) supervisors.
The filing period for these offices begins at 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 1 and ends at 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 15 at the Pine County Auditor’s office. Filing can either be done in person or by mail. Filing offices will be closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
Commissioners
Two county commissioner seats, currently held by Roger Nelson of Hinckley in District 3 and Curt Rossow of Willow River in District 4, are open for the fall election. Nelson is finishing his first term as a commissioner, and Rossow was just appointed a few months ago after the resignation of Greg Bennett. The term for county commissioner is four years.
To be eligible for a commissioner seat, a candidate must live in the district he/she represents.
District 3 is comprised of the townships of Arlone, Arna, Barry, Clover, Crosby, Dell Grove, Hinckley, Munch, Ogema and Wilma and the city of Hinckley.
District 4 is comprised of the townships of Birch Creek, Bremen, Kettle River, Norman, Pine Lake, Sturgeon Lake and Windemere and the cities of Denham, Finlayson, Rutledge, Sturgeon Lake and Willow River.
