Girls’ hockey co-op moves forward

The cooperative sponsorship with Pine City School District to participate in the Cambridge-Isanti/Mora girls’ hockey program came one step closer to happening.

The Cambridge-Isanti School Board approved the cooperative at their meeting June 19. For the past decade, Pine City teamed up with Chisago Lakes for girls hockey until the arrangement was recently dissolved by Chisago Lakes.

That cooperative made one state tournament appearance in its duration.

Pine City would be able to help round out the Cambridge-Isanti/Mora team, but it was not felt by Pine City School staff that there would be enough skaters to field their own Dragon girls’ hockey team.

The cooperative will begin in 2008-09 and will be in place at least two years, if it also receives approval from the Minnesota State High School League, as well as the Mississippi 8 Conference and Section 7AA.
