Plans are underway for the 2008 Chisago County Children’s Water Festival that will be held on Friday, September 26th at Wild Mountain Recreation Area in Taylors Falls. Over 700 fifth graders and their teachers will spend the day learning about the water resources that abound in this area.
The Children’s Water Festival would not be possible without generous donations of time and resources from a variety of sources. Learning stations that the children will visit include such fun activities as "Would you Drink this Water", "The Secret Insides of Fish", "The Incredible Journey" and "Ki-Chi-Saga Lake Game". Clancy, Pollution Control Agency's mercury sniffing dog, will amaze them with his keen nose. Staff from the National Park Service station at St. Croix Falls will describe the wonders of our famous river bordering our county, while other presenters will talk about the importance of groundwater." CLIMB Theatre will perform its environmentally themed play “Waste Today, Water Tomorrow”.
Over 100 volunteers are needed to help make the festival run smoothly. While many volunteers have stepped forward, more are still needed! Whether you can spend an hour or the day, your participation would be welcomed by the planning committee and appreciated by the children.
