Championship watercross in Grantsburg kicked off with qualifying heats in the drag competition.

The 32nd Annual World Championship Snowmobile Watercross in Grantsburg kicked off for the first time with Friday racing.
It is the first three days of racing event in the 32 year history of the event.
Event organizers were able to get the racers to complete the qualifying rounds of the drags and set up the pairings for the championship on Sunday
Saturday's events included oval racing at 10 a.m., wrist wrestling, a vintage Snowmobile Show, the Budweiser Girls, Mechanical Bull Riding, Kiddie Land and live music at the 8:30 p.m. street dance with "Brat Pack Radio."
Sporadic rain throughout the afternoon dampened enthusiam for the show, but the lightning held off so the days race card could be complete.
The culmination of the day is the spectacular fireworks show in the evening.
Sunday is the big day and all the hardware is on the line as racers go for the Championships in several different categories.
The Grantsburg Hockey Association is sponsoring and running the event which culminates on Sunday.
